Bobbie Lee Wimer, age 81 of Olathe passed away Monday Oct. 20 at his daughter's home. Funeral Service will be graveside 2:00PM Friday Oct. 24th at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 12:30 to 1:45 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the KC Hospice.
Bobbie was born January 16, 1927 in Carthage Missouri, to Earl and Mabel Fenton Wimer. Bobbie graduated from Carthage High School in 1944 and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1945. On Sept. 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Dariel Cook in Carthage Missouri. He worked for the Safeway Grocery Chain for 25 years in management positions before retiring. After retirement from Safeway, he changed careers and was employed with the Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville Oklahoma as a physical therapist in their fitness and health center for over 10 years retiring in 1986. Bobbie and his wife moved to Olathe in 2003 . They were married 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Raymond and Daniel Joseph. Bobbie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors are his children, daughter, Linda and husband Thomas Griffeth of Olathe, daughter, Patricia and husband Steve Miller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, son Richard and wife Kathy Wimer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
