Bob (Charles Robert) Ramsdell

August 3, 1944 — February 3, 2025

Bob (Charles Robert) Ramsdell, age 80, passed away February 3, 2025. He lived a long, full life, and a celebration of his life will be held on February 15, 2025, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, KS, beginning at 1:00 and followed by a time for visiting.

Bob was born August 3, 1944, the first of four children of Charles R. Ramsdell Sr. and Ilah Delight (Little) Ramsdell. The family moved from Tonawanda, NY to Springfield, MO in 1960. He graduated from Parkview High School in 1962, received a BS in Mathematics from Southwest Missouri State in 1966 and a Master in Business Administration from The University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1976.

Bob and his first wife, Susan Wilson (Bannon) Ramsdell began raising their three sons, Ryan, Scott and Darin, in Overland Park, KS. Bob married Deborah Kay (West) Ramsdell in 1988 and together they raised the boys to adulthood. Bob was an active member of The Church of the Resurrection since 1995, serving as a leader in the church’s Disciple Bible Study classes for many years.

Bob enjoyed his 30-year career in information technology, primarily at Yellow Freight System, but the most joyful career experience was the following 18 years that he and Debbie owned Blue Chip Cookies and Ice Cream in Leawood, KS.

He was preceded in death by his son Darin, his daughter-in-law Jill and his son Scott. He is survived by his wife Debbie, son Ryan, daughter-in-law Kris Everett and husband Dave, grandchildren Jacob Ramsdell, Juliet and husband Joshua Muse, Logan Ramsdell, Malory Ramsdell and Tyson Ramsdell. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Joseph, James and Alice Muse, and Georgia Brewer. His surviving siblings are Bill Ramsdell and his wife Mary, Dan Ramsdell, and Debbie Parman and her husband Phil, all of Springfield, MO.

We are very grateful for the oncology care teams at KU Med, for the skill and kindness and compassion with which they cared for Bob for the last 18 months. We are also very grateful for the family and friends who supported us with their love in so many ways.

Bob resolved to live each day in joy and gratitude. He left this life trusting in God’s love.
