Billie "Bill" G. Brewer , 94, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1926 in Hartford, Kansas to William and Lela (Smith) Brewer.
In March of 1942, Bill's family moved to Colorado where they purchased a 500 acre ranch near Virginia Dale, Colorado.
On Bill's 18th birthday, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in WWII in the Pacific Corridor. After being discharged in 1946, he returned to the ranch and helped his family run the ranch and lumber mill. There he met Berniece Sinner who was instrumental in inviting him to attend Calvary Baptist Church in Ft. Collins, CO. He accepted Jesus as his Savior while working up on the ranch in August of 1946. Bill and Bea were married on June 8, 1947, at Calvary Baptist Church.
He reenlisted in the Navy and he and his wife moved to Bremerton, Washington, where they were active in the Service Man Center. This is where he first preached. Bill served our country in Active Duty and the Reserves for over 20 years.
They returned to Colorado in 1954 and in November of that year he surrendered to the ministry at a revival meeting preached by Bro. Carl Boonstra. They moved to Springfield, MO and entered Baptist Bible College in January of 1955 and graduated in May of 1957.
From 1957 to 1991, Bro. Brewer pastored in Quenemo and Bonner Springs, KS. In the fall of 1991, he and Mrs. Brewer moved to Olathe, KS where he went out as a Missionary Evangelist from Faith Baptist Church. He continued in this ministry until August of 2016.
Throughout all those years, he touched many lives and his legacy will live on through all those people. All of this, because he wanted to share his live for the Lord and his desire to reach everyone he met for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was one who never met a stranger!
During those years he took many mission trips and preached all over the United States. He loved to hunt and fish, and of course, make bolo ties! McDonald's was a favorite of his!!!
Bill is survived by his sister, Betty Darlene Boulware of Wheatland, WY; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and his good friends, Rex and Donna Neumann of Olathe, KS.
A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple in Shawnee, KS, with the funeral service following at 10:30am. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe, KS with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
