BETTY JANE (DeVoe) SPENCER
Age 78, passed away January 31, 2007 in Olathe, KS, surrounded by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Villa St. Francis, 16000 W. 126th, Olathe, KS 66062, or to the charity of your choice.
Betty was born January 6, 1929 in Fairview, KS to Albert and Illa DeVoe. She graduated from John P. St. John High School in Olathe, and went on to receive her Nursing Diploma from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1950. Betty and Bill Spencer were married on February 27, 1950 in St. Louis, MO. She retired as a Registered Nurse in 1991, after almost forty years of service. She was also an active volunteer with the Salvation Army and the Women's Auxiliary in the Olathe Area. Bill and Betty devoted their lives to raising their six children and caring for their family.
She is survived by her children Steven Spencer, Dan (Mary) Spencer, Lorri (Jim) Saffell, Sara Spencer, and Kayce (Dale) Powers, daughter-in-law Debbie Burnett Spencer, her sister Doris Hardman, eleven grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1997, and her son Tom Spencer in 1998.
