Betty was born on December 9, 1930, in Olathe, Kansas, to Perry and Elsie (Riffey) Redinger. She loved school and went on to be valedictorian of her class at St. John's (Olathe) High School in 1948. She attended McPherson College, where she met the love of her life, Frank Lutz. They were married on June 9, 1950, and shared many wonderful vacations and life adventures until Frank's death in 2001. She lived her entire life in Olathe.
Betty retired from a rewarding career at Columbian National Title Insurance after 30 years of service. Betty's ancestors had been active members of the Olathe community since the 19th century, when her maternal great-grandparents moved to town. Her great-grandfather and her grandfather helped construct the building for the Olathe Church of the Brethren at the corner of Pine and Elm Streets, where Betty attended services from her birth until her death.
Whether at the bridge table, on the tennis court, at the swimming pool, or cheering on her beloved Kansas City Chiefs, Betty's joyous spirit and positive attitude left an enduring mark on those fortunate enough to be a part of her life's journey.
Betty is survived by her son Steve Lutz, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, her daughter Pam (Mike) Haskin, of Gardner, KS, her granddaughter Karla (Todd) Jensen, of Gardner, KS, her grandson Eric (Michael Germeister) Manis, of Addison, IL, and her great-grandchildren Eli and Chelsea Jensen, of Gardner, KS.
