Betty Jo Howard, 88, of Overland Park, passed away on October 6, 2019 at Shawnee Parc in Overland Park, Kansas.
She was born on June 3, 1931 to William and Mary (Wright) McDaniel in Seneca, MO.
Betty worked as a processor for Lucent Technologies for 25 years.
On May 27, 1950, she married Jess Howard, the love of her life. Betty and Jess lived in Olathe, Kansas for most of their lives.
She was a member of Abdallah Shrine Ladies without Nobles, Ocheltree Baptist Church, 4-H Leader, Girl Scout Leader and the Shriners Camping Club. Betty was also an Ambassador at Olathe Medical Center for many years.
She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She loved being with her beloved family and also enjoyed taking care of her animals.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Homer) Howard Owens of Olathe; sons, Larry (Jane) Howard of Eudora, and Mike (Samantha) Howard of Paola Kansas; brother, Ronnie McDaniel of Seneca, MO; sisters, Carol Bowman of Olathe, Kansas and Mary Embree of Seneca, MO. Betty's grandsons are Jim Bailey, Eric Olivas, Brad Howard, Brent Howard, Jeff Owens, Matt Owens. Granddaughters are Amy Hunsaker, Hollie Plowman, Taylor Labra, Cassidy Labra.
She has 16 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Howard, parents, 2 brothers and 2 great grandsons.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, 2019 from 1-2 PM at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Olathe, Kansas. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM with burial at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Associations and Alzheimer's Association.
