Bette was born December 18, 1914 to her parents, William Robert Wilson and Martha Ann Beck-Wilson in Arkansas City, Kansas, and graduated from Arkansas City High School. She has been a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, member of The Christian Gathering Class and a member of The United Methodist Women. Bette was a Girl Scout Leader in Highland Park Schools and co-founder, along with her husband, of the Highlander 4-H Club in Topeka, KS.
She worked as a Dental Bookkeeping Receptionist, Clerk of the City Court of Arkansas City, KS and in the Register of Deeds Office of Cowley County, KS. After moving to Topeka, she was employed with Drug Distributor Inc. from 1951-1961 and 1966 to July 1975.
Bette was married to Arthur William Leach on June 4, 1939 in Arkansas City, KS. Arthur died in June of 1993.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Bette is survived by her daughters, Roslyn (Robert) Billquist of Overland Park, and Mary Jane (Richard) Ralston of Gloversville, NY, grandchildren Michael (Amy) Billquist, Patrick (Regina) Billquist, Pamela (Mark) Robbins, Mark (Amber) Billquist, Ann (Steve) Kenyon, Vicky (Randy) Savage, and Karen (Jim) Harger, twenty-two great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Mrs. Viola J. McMahon of Dewey, OK, and several nieces and nephews.
