Bethene Phillips

Bethene A. Longshore was born to Sara J. Hoffman Longshore & Leo H. Longshore, Sr. She attended Keokuk Senior High School and received her LPN degree from Blessing School of Nursing in Quincy, Illinois.

She married Donald Phillips at the Hamilton Christian Church in Hamilton, Illinois June 28, 1974. They moved to Kansas City, Kansas and lived there until Donald's death in September 2009. Beth then moved to Olathe to be closer to her daughter and her family.

Beth spent her entire working career caring for others working at St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa prior to her marriage to Don. After relocating to Kansas City, she worked in several hospitals, nursing homes, and the federal prison in Leavenworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents, brother Leo Jr., and an infant sister.

She is survived by daughter Amanda (Paul) Harris, Granddaughters Nique Winsky and Stephanie Winsky, grandson Brandonn Winsky and Great-granddaughters Alexis and Alana. She is also survived by sisters Elva (Richard) Hedrick of Morton, Illinois and Wilma (Donald) Harmon of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
