Bernard Paulsen

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Barney Paulsen passed away peacefully on December 31, 2011. He was 89 years old. The family suggests contributions to the American Legion Post 153, Olathe, KS.
Barney was born Nov. 23, 1922 in Olathe, KS to Henry and Frances (Bechler) Paulsen. He graduated from Olathe High school in 1940, before serving in the US Army during WWII. He married Nadine Eastland in 1946. He worked at the Olathe Naval Air Station and Frye Furniture Store before he went into business for himself as Barney's Floor Covering in 1956. He was a member of the American Legion Post 153, Olathe Trail Riders, and St. Paul's Catholic Church. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, spending time with family and friends and enjoying a cold one.
He was preceded in death by a son Tim Paulsen, his parents, and a brother Steve Paulsen.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nadine (Eastland), children; Dan Paulsen (Judy), Cindy Steele (Ed), Debby Beard (Dave), and Sherry Wagner (Rob). Grandchildren; Shane, Christopher, David, Tyler, Jake, Matthew,Kimberly, and Nathan great grandchildren; Alex and Ryan. Brother; Bob Paulsen. Sisters; Mary Louise Timmons, Joanie Krumm, and Rita Collard.
