Bernard Wesley Frommack, 81
Wes went to be with his Lord early in the morning of July 31, 2013. He was a longtime resident of Southern California, eventually moving to Lenexa, Kansas as a resident of Lakeview Village for the past seven years. Wes leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, a daughter and son, eight grandchildren, one great-grandson and his loving sister.
Wes was born in 1932 in Villisca, Iowa. After earning a bachelor's degree in pharmacy at Drake University, Wes continued on through medical school at the University of Iowa. In 1957, following marriage to the love of his life, he and Jean moved to California where he completed his residency in general surgery. He and Jean were blessed with the birth of a daughter and son. Wes served as a Lieutenant Commander MD in the U.S. Public Health Service during the early 1960's. He then joined the Southern California Permanente Medical Group as a General Surgeon at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Bellflower. While at Kaiser, he taught surgical anatomy at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. Wes retired from Kaiser in 1995 after 29 years of service.
In addition to many professional accomplishments, Wes had a passion for a number of Christian ministries. He served as a board-level leader in the churches he attended, and schools his children attended. Wes was the first President to serve Every Generation Ministries, which has now expanded into many countries. He was an avid fisherman, and thoroughly enjoyed playing golf well into his retirement years. He and Jean enjoyed traveling to a number of destinations around the world. They were blessed with many years of fellowship and service within their home church. His entire family knew they could count on him to always be ready to play any table game and amaze everyone with his electronic game skills. He had a very kind heart and joyfully thrived on opportunities to extend generosity. Wes will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
