Barry W. Wheeler, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan to William and Dorothy (Randolph) Wheeler.
Barry grew up in Saginaw, Michigan. He worked at numerous insurance companies around the state of Michigan but spent most of his career at Special Risks in Rochester, Michigan. After retiring, Barry and Marge moved to Overland Park. As a post retirement job, Barry worked for the Overland Park Police Department as a Motorist Assist Officer. This is where he really found his career passion. Barry also loved watching his grandkids play sports and was a die-hard Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings, and University of Michigan fan.
Barry is survived by his loving wife, Marge Wheeler, son, Adam Wheeler (Rebecca), daughter, Mari Wheeler Caballero, grandchildren, Ashleigh (Kody), Mackenzie (Tim), Carson and Gabriel, and great grandchildren, Ryland and Emerson. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Charles Wheeler.
There will be a memorial service in Michigan in the summer.
