Barrett "Barry" Samuel Brown, 42, of Overland Park, KS, passed away suddenly Saturday, June 8, 2013. Barry was born on March 3, 1971, in Memphis, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Rebekah Dean Brown, and three children, Caleb, 11, Hannah, 9, and Abigail, 5 months. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Peggy Brown of Memphis, TN; sisters, Stephony Robinson (Elton) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Melita Pitts of Memphis, TN, Melody Massey (Barry) of Denver, CO, and Jeana' Ray (John) of Memphis, TN; four nieces, six nephews, and one great nephew.
Barry attended Harding Academy of Memphis from Grades 1-12, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN, where he sang in the university chorus and the a cappella group, Reflections. He was an Applications Programmer for Imperial PFS in Kansas City, MO.
A member of the Overland Park church of Christ Praise Team, Barry also sang in the a capella group, Reconciled.
He displayed natural ability as a performer, comedian and singer at an early age, egged on by the enthusiastic applause of his big sisters.
Barry could harmonize before he could talk in complete sentences. As an adult he was known for his stellar voice ranging from the lowest bass to the highest tenor.
Considered the "Life of the Party" by those who knew and loved him, Barry could quote whole movie scenes with spot on impersonations. His hand and vocal percussions were legendary. "Barry-isms" will forever be part of his family's vernacular.
A loving, sweet spirit, and devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend, Barry will be deeply missed by all who adored him.
