Barbara Rains

Barbara Jo Rains, 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 5, 2007 at her home in Olathe. The family suggests contributions to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center.

Barbara was born August 28, 1940 in Quincy, Illinois. She was a graduate of Ferguson High School. Barbara enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed shopping, garage saling, and watching sports, especially the N.Y. Yankees baseball, KC Chiefs, and KU basketball.

She leaves behind her mother Mary and brothers Jim (Bonnie) and Bruce (Maxine), her four children Kim VanAlst (Jerry), Rick Kline (Christine), Kristie Rains, and Jamie Rains, her seven grandchildren; Jennifer, Robert, Natilie, Ben, Josh, Anna, Cody, Austin, Jacob, and Megan, and her four great grandchildren; Haylie, Cameron, Sean, and Vince.

The family offers special thanks to the doctors and staff of Olathe Medical Center and a special thanks to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come with me". With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we would not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
