Barbara A. Doll, 85, of Olathe, KS passed away Wendsday June 22, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Good Samaritan Nursing Center or First Baptist Church of Olathe.
Barbara was born March 5, 1926 in Huntington Park, CA. Mom Effie, Dad Frank and Sister Beverly Wolfe made up her family of 4. She graduated from Pasadena Junior College in 1941 before going on to work for State Farm for 17 years.
Barb married Bob Marshall in 1946 and raised 2 children, Wayne and Susan Marshall. Bob died in December of 1976.
Barb married Bert Doll in March of 1982. She always commented how she never understood how God could have blessed her with two wonderful husbands in her lifetime, but she loved and appreciated them both.
Barb introduced her daughter, Sue, to Bert's son, Mike; they were soon after married in June of 1982. She loved telling the story about her close-knit family. Their granddaughter, Sara, was born in March of 1989.
Daughter in law, Lyn Doll, has Amanda, Andrew, and Adam; our other grandchildren. Amanda has our great grandchildren Jaden and Sydney.
Barbara was a member of the Skyline Sweet Adeline Chorus in Colorado. She loved singing whether it be by the piano at home, with the Sweet Adeline's, or choir at church. Her family will always remember her beautiful voice and quirky songs.
Barb would like anyone who attends her memorial to leave uplifted because this is a joyous time in her life. She is on her way to a new life with no pain. She wants everyone to think of her in heaven singing with the Heavenly choir, and wearing red slippers, having a good time and she promises she will even remember the right words to the songs. And when a thunderstorm comes along, imagine that "Barbie" is up there bowling. She's sure God will assign her some fun jobs.
Barbie Doll touched so many lives with her sparkling personality, sense of humor, and uplifting spirit. She will be greatly missed.
