Barbara Maxine Barnes

Barbara Maxine Barnes, 92, of Olathe, KS passed away November 7, 2024.

Barbara was born June 21, 1932 in Newton, KS to Nina and Harold Wilson.

She attended Hutchinson High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Ernest Barnes on January 7, 1951. 

Together they raised two daughters, Debra and Cathy.

Barbara enjoyed being a homemaker and as well as volunteering at her daughters schools. She loved sewing and made her daughters prom dresses and cheer uniforms. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Jigsaw puzzles, Cryptoquip puzzles and crafts kept her hands busy.

Barbara and Ernie together enjoyed playing golf and belonged to the Paganica/Highlands Golf Course in Hutchinson. They also enjoyed traveling and managed to include golf in their travels.

She is preceded in death by; her husband Ernest, her parents and two siblings, William R. Wilson and Joyce Hoots.

Barbara is survived by: daughters Debra Theede of Houston, TX and Cathy Herbison and husband, John, of Olathe, KS, four grandchildren; Nicholas Theede and wife, Gena, of Cypress, TX, Ashley Hurst and husband, Jay, of Boerne, TX, Cara Ramirez and husband, Ian, of Overland Park, KS, Clayton Herbison and wife, Angela, of Lenexa, KS, 10 great grandchildren; Parker, Austin, Julian, Jacob, Maddox, Caroline, Evie, Quinn, Lily and Graham, and twelve nieces and nephews.

Private Graveside service will be held in Hutchinson, Kansas at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
