Austin Eugene "Gene" Norris, 91, of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. He was born on March 3, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas to Jewel and Erlene Olive (Johnson) Norris.
Gene was born on March 3, 1932 in the town of Rosedale in Kansas City, KS. Gene grew up and attended High School for the Deaf for one year and then Rosedale High school. he graduated in 1951. He went on to work for Tension Envelope Company, Corn Products, and General Motors, among other places. He loved woodworking, woodcarving, farming, farm animals (especially cows), and he raised chickens.
Gene is survived by his wife, Melinda Kay (Rice) Norris; daughters, Gina (Norris) Swanson and her husband Ronald Swanson and Judy (Norris) Bauer, and numerous grandchildren and great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jewel Aaron Norris Jr. and Charles Jerome "Jerry" Norris, and his sister Shirley Elaine (Norris) McCoy.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, the memorial service will follow at 11:00am.
