AUGUSTA ANN ALLENBRAND
Ann Allenbrand, 75, of Spring Hill, Kan., formerly of Olathe, Kan., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Olathe Medical Center. There will be a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob Rd., Olathe. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Ann was born June 23, 1934, in Garnett, Kan., to August and Antoinette Block. Ann's family relocated to a farm in Olathe, Kan. when Ann was just a baby. Ann made Olathe her home with her husband Billy P. Allenbrand, whom she married on March 17, 1951, and they raised 3 children. Ann took pride in establishing a career as a teacher for the Spring Hill School District; however, she devoted the majority of her time to her children and grandchildren. She was the proud grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 11. Ann was an active member of Grace Baptist Church until she moved to Spring Hill at which time she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission. Ann touched the lives of many; she will be greatly missed.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Billy P. Allenbrand; parents, August and Antoinette Block; brother, John Block; Sisters, Eunice Crawford, Helen Allenbrand, Betty Crist and Alice Mae Block. She is survived by her sister Marion Crawford of Garnett, Kansas; children, Gary and Chris Allenbrand of Corona, California, Shirley Allenbrand and Jeff Cleveland of Lenexa, Kansas, and Mike Allenbrand of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Tori Allenbrand, Tobe and Denise Allenbrand, Tye and Liz Allenbrand, Travis and Heather Meireis, Ryan Allenbrand, Tiffany Meireis, Brett Allenbrand, Troy and Roberta Cleveland, Trent and Linda Cleveland, and Jay and Katie Byers; great-grandchildren, Brianna Poe, Alexis and Sydnee Chinn, McKenzie and Raelon Allenbrand, Jennifer and Jake Allenbrand, Jana and Timothy Cleveland, and Sophie and Charlotte Byers.
