Arthur Clement Newby II, 25, of Olathe, passed away on November 6, 2023.
He was born on May 23, 1998, to Arthur and Maritza (Paul) Newby at Boulder, CO. The family lived in Colorado and Texas, and eventually moved to the Kansas City area. Arthur described himself as a Kansan, and an ardent lover of the Kansas City Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks.
Arthur graduated from Blue Valley North High School in 2016, attended Johnson County Community College, and currently was attending the University of Kansas majoring in communications with a minor in journalism. This career aspiration suited him well. He was evolving into an effective writer and communicator. Arthur applied for an internship at Syracuse University for the summer of 2024, and was being considered for an internship in Kansas Governor Laura Kelly's office for the 2023-2024 academic year. In 2023 he was published in The Kansan, and he also received honorable mention in the JCCC 2023 Kansas Collegiate Media. Arthur had the pleasure to meet and to write an article about Kansas Senator Sharice Davids.
Antioch Church of Merriam was where Arthur confessed his belief in God and was baptized. He was passionate about music and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the guitar. Church activities included participation in "Thrive", other small groups, and volunteering at church events.
Arthur is survived by his loving Father, Arthur Clement Newby, Sr., and his Mother, Dr. Maritza Paul-Newby.
Funeral will be held on November 18, 2023, 1:00 P.M. at Antioch Church of Merriam, 5201 Antioch Rd., Merriam, Kansas with Pastor Kerry Murphy officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Youth Department at Antioch Church of Merriam.
