Arthur D. Hapke, Jr, 94, formerly of Fairfield Bay, AR, passed away August 3, 2016, at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, MO. Private Services will be held at a later date.
Arthur (Art) was born April 3, 1922, in Chicago, IL to Arthur and Alice Hapke. Art was the eldest of 5 siblings and survived all of his brothers and sisters. Art attended the University of Illinois and served as a B29 pilot in the US Air Force during World War II. Art and Terry were married August 7, 1948, and moved from Chicago to Kansas City North, MO, where they resided for over 25 years. Art worked in corn refining with Corn Products in NKC MO and later for ADM in Decatur, IL. Art and Terry retired to Fairfield Bay, AR in 1988. Art was an avid and very skilled golfer as well as a woodworker and gardener.
Art was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa (Terry), in 2006. He is survived by daughters Gretchen Sherk (Overland Park, KS) and Martha (Mike) Flaherty (Overland Park, KS) as well as grandsons Kyle Arthur Sherk (Vanessa; Denver), Christopher Arthur (Ft. Collins, CO) and Patrick Arthur (Minneapolis, MN).
