Arlene Citro

Arlene Citro, 73 of Olathe, KS passed away Tues. July 22, 2014.

Arlene was born Feb. 20, 1941 in New York, NY to William and Margaret McCarthy. After growing up in Bronx, NY, she met Anthony Citro in 1964. They were married at St. Margaret's in Riverdale on October 4, 1969. They started their life together in Yonkers, NY where they became proud parents of Chiara and Stephanie. In 1983, they relocated to Olathe, KS where she devoted her life to raising her two daughters. Shortly after losing her husband in 1994, Arlene joined the Olathe East High School family working as the bookkeeper until retiring in 2009. Arlene's best times were spent at a table with friends, family, food and wine. Arlene's favorite week of the year was spent in Ocean City, MD with friends and family. Arlene never missed an opportunity to eat crabs while on the East Coast – once even being cut off at an all you can eat crab restaurant. Arlene will always be remembered for her spitfire personality and huge heart. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Citro, father William McCarthy and mother Margaret McCarthy. She is survived by her daughter Chiara Valadez and husband Chad; her daughter Stephanie Citro and fiancé, Brad Hudson; and her grandchildren Elia, Anthony, Kaden and Carmela.
