With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ariadne “Ari” Margarita Montiel Farrell, 57, of Olathe, KS, who peacefully departed this life at home on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family after a valiant battle with ALS.
Born to Esteban Montiel and Margarita Villegas on October 22, 1967, in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, Ari’s journey began with a deep love for family and a passion for nurturing those around her. Preceded in death by her cherished parents, she leaves behind a legacy rich in love and compassion.
Ari will be forever remembered by her beloved children, daughter Ariadne “Ari” Montiel Handley and son-in-law Trevor Handley, and son Kevin Regan Farrell II. Her greatest pride and joy were her children. She is also survived by her treasured siblings, Ivonne Montiel, Karla Montiel Wilson, and Esteban Montiel, and her dear nieces Daniela Granados Meleros, Blanca Granados Montiel, Karla Montiel, Samantha Guess, and her godchild Sofia. Known as the glue that bound her family together, Ari’s spirit of unity and love will continue to guide us as we honor her memory by maintaining the close-knit family she cherished so dearly.
Ari’s immense passion for teaching and nurturing led her to a successful 21-year career as a home daycare provider. Her boundless patience and overflowing love created a warm and welcoming environment for every child who entered her home. Driven by a desire to provide unconditional love she herself had not known, Ari touched countless lives with her generosity and dedication.
Even at the age of 50, Ari’s indomitable spirit shone brightly as she reinvented herself and pursued her second passion—makeup and beauty—by opening a permanent makeup business. Returning to school and starting anew, she built a thriving business through sheer determination and hard work, leaving yet another lasting imprint on those she served.
Ari’s legacy is one of unconditional love and unyielding generosity. Despite facing many hardships and her courageous fight with ALS, her unwavering faith in God remained a cornerstone of her life. Revered for her entrepreneurial spirit, Ari always emphasized that her greatest accomplishments were her two children and the tightly woven family she held so close to her heart. Her boundless love will forever resonate within her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the ALS Foundation or Gleason Foundation.
