Ara V. (Trudy) Soter (89), went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Friday, April 22, 2016. Trudy was born in McClain, Oklahoma on January 27, 1927 to Rev. William and Mary Henderson. As a pastor's daughter, she traveled around with her father, supporting his efforts and ministry.
She graduated from Weber Falls High School in 1945. She worked in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon. While there, she met her husband of 67 years. She married Robert H. Soter on July 19, 1948.
In 1962 Bob and Trudy started Soter Drywall. She was a true partner in that endeavor for all of the 23 years they were in business. All of their decisions were a joint effort and truly blessed by the Lord.
Trudy was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and devoted grandmother. In good and bad times, Trudy's love and care for her family was always apparent.
She was an outstanding cook, always preparing and baking family favorites. Trudy enjoyed flowers and gardening. She liked Westerns and was an avid reader. She loved to play Scrabble on her computer.
In 1985, Bob and Trudy retired and set out to see the country for two years. After those great adventures they lived at the Lake of the Ozarks. The entire family made use of their dock, boat and wave runner for the next 27 years. During those years, she worked at the Oneida Factory Outlet, providing numerous sets of silverware to her family. In 2014, Bob and Trudy returned to Overland Park.
Trudy Soter was a true woman of God. She was always faithful to the Lord Jesus and His church. She was a Sunday School Teacher and a Prayer Warrior. She consistently gave a bold witness of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to anyone at any time. She was a member of Abundant Life Church.
Trudy is survived by her husband Bob; one son, Michael Soter (Claudia) of Olathe; two daughters, Marilyn Crouch (Michael) of Basehor, and Esther Wakefield (Dan) of Overland Park. She is also survived by seven grand-children, one great-grand son and a great-grand-daughter on the way.
Without any doubt, this beloved wife, mother and grand-mother made her entrance into heaven this past Friday morning and heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
Visitation is Monday, April 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the Funeral service is Tuesday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m. All services are at Abundant Life Church, 12400 Antioch Rd., Overland Park, KS. 66213.
