Anthony Powell of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age of 33. Anthony's childhood years were spent in Georgia where he loved spending time outside, playing baseball, riding his bike and of course the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a great skier and always looked forward to the family's annual trip to Park City, Utah, where he could challenge his brothers out on the slopes. Anthony was also a great older brother to his younger twin brothers Jacob and Jordan, who adored him and looked to him for inspiration and guidance his entire life.
After the family's move to Kansas, Anthony attended Louisburg High School, where he excelled in class and sports, especially the game he loved of baseball. He went on to play baseball as a pitcher at Pittsburg State University and earned his accounting degree. In 2012 Anthony received his Masters in Accounting at Kansas University in Lawrence, KS. He performed accounting roles in several KC companies before moving to UMB Bank, where he worked in the audit department. For the last two years, he has served as a deacon at Southpoint Church of Christ in Kansas City, MO, and loved the people there that cared so much for him, Alyssa, and their kids.
While in college, Anthony met and fell in love with Alyssa Stamper and they became a family in 2015 by marrying on the beach at Coronado Island in San Diego, CA; one of his favorite vacation places. They welcomed their daughter Riley in December 2018, and their son Oliver in February 2021. Together they enjoyed biking, playing at the park, and had recently visited Disney World together. Anthony loved date nights, spending time with his kids, traveling, and The Georgia Bulldogs. Anyone who spent time with Anthony would find themselves either in deep conversation or rolling in laughter at his quick wit and amazing story telling abilities. Anthony had a love for people, enjoyed group activities, family time and getting to know you. He enjoyed a good debate, instrumental music, Rubik cubes, gun collecting, fishing and a round of golf. Above all, Anthony loved his wife and children and will be greatly missed.
Anthony is survived by his wife Alyssa; children: Riley and Oliver, his parents Randy and Connie Powell; brothers: Jacob (Kelsey) Powell and Jordan (Mary) Powell; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
