Annabelle M. Roettger

Annabelle M. Trautman Roettger, 71, of Overland Park, KS passed away Saturday April 19, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM Thurs. April 24th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will follow 10AM Friday at Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, IA. The family will receive friends Wed. from 5-7:30 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel where the Rosary will be said at 7:30. Memorial contributions may be given to Catholic Charities.

Annabelle was born in St. Charles, MO, December 8, 1942, and lived as a child in Florissant, Mo, after the death of her father she lived in St. Charles where she finished her high school education. She married Melvin Roettger in 1963 and gave birth to twins in 1965. It was in that year they started farming in St. Louis County. She moved to a farm in Holt County, MO in 1979 where with her husband ran a Pioneer brand seed business and grew corn and soybeans. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic church where she served as an Altar Society President and Treasurer, and taught religion for 2 years. She served in her community as a board member and Vice-president of the Holt County Extension Council; served on the board of the Holt County Farm Bureau, and the Missouri State Women's Committee. She served as project director for the Holt County Historical Society and was instrumental in helping them receive a grant from the Humanities. Annabelle and her husband moved to Overland Park, KS in 2002 to be near their daughter where she regularly made casseroles for the St. Mary's food kitchen.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Mel Roettger, Son; Robert Roettger and wife Debra, Daughter; Rhonda Peterson and husband Dennis, Grandchildren; Jonathan Roettger, Tyler and Jacob Peterson, and Carley Ewoldt.
