Anna Louise Briggs, 94, of Stilwell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 14, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Louise was born April 8, 1921, to Frank and Mabel Lawson in Martin City, Missouri. She graduated from Westport High School and Kansas City Teacher's College. Louise married Hubert Briggs on June 10, 1942, and they had one child, Carol Ann. They lived over 70 years on their farm in Stilwell, Kansas. The community, family and friends in the area were of great pride and pleasure. Louise was proud of her 30 year teaching career in the K.C., Missouri, School System where she taught at Hartman and Hale Cook Elementary Schools. Hubert and Louise were married 59 years and enjoyed many trips to Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV over their retirement years until Hubert's passing in 2002. Louise remained active in her home and enjoyed cooking, hanging clothes on the clothesline and keeping house until the last months of her life. Elizabeth "Betsy" Seale offered many days of pleasure and company to Louise at the home over the years until the end.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Lorene Seale. Louise is survived by her daughter Carol Ann Kibler, grandchildren Fred Kibler and Kolette (Kibler) Knittel, and great grandchildren Keen and Kael Knittel of Spring Hill, and niece Elizabeth Seale.
