Ann was born Dec. 24, 1938 in Isola, MS and spent most of her life living in Muskegon, MI and Lynwood, CA. She eventually moved to Olathe, KS to be near her son. She is preceded in death by mother and father, Emmett and Lillie Lue Gunter, brother Nathanial Murphy, son Michael A. Murphy, 3 aunts, and 2 uncles. She is survived by aunt Mildred Coleman of Twin Lake, MI, brother and wife Eddie and Barbara Colman of Alexandria, LA, daughter Jo Ann Gordon of Olathe, KS, Ronald Gordon of Overland Park, KS, granddaughters Apryle Murphy, Latanya Murphy, and Tiffani Gordon; and grandsons Jerome Murphy, Michael Gordon, and Remy Gordon. Ann was an avid bowler, teacher of ESL, and foster mom to at least 10 children. She was tough, straight-forward, caring, beautiful and strong. She gave people hope. She gave children direction. She taught love has no boundaries no matter what color you are or what background you come from. She was the Matriarch. Thank you Ann, for your generous contribution to the world, and to our lives. Your soul will carry on in all of us. We love you.
