Andrew Carl Smith, 55, passed away on September 20th, 2022 at his home in Overland Park, Kansas.
He was born on May 21, 1967 to Hubert and Eva-Sue (Lucas) Smith in Haltom City, Texas.
Andrew worked as an air traffic controller from 1987 to 2015 at Shreveport Tower, San Antonio Tower/Approach, and Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center.
He was awarded the highest honor in his field - the Archie League Medal of Safety - by his union in 2014 for the best save that year.
He still got all his books and movies from the library, and he enjoyed video games and good company.
Andrew is survived by his mother, Eva-Sue Smith, his brother, Terry (Sherry) Smith, his son, Derek (Cristina) Ayala Smith, his daughter, Makayla Bong, his grandsons, Aurelius, Asa, and Odin Ayalasmith, his pet parakeet, "Bird," and family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hubert Smith and his sister, Karen Swank.
Private family service will be held on September 30th in Waco, Texas.
