Andrew Harley Caraway, 16, of Olathe, passed away on March 9, 2018. He was born on November 27, 2001 to John Caraway and Shera Grimm.
Andrew was born in Olathe, KS. Even before birth, Andrew marched to the beat of his own drum giving his mother preterm contractions starting at 12 weeks. Andrew finally arrived 10 days after his due date.
Andrew began his school life at Sunnyside Elementary. During this time he worked through the ranks of Taekwondo, earning a 2nd degree black-belt. He moved on to Chisolm Trail and then to Olathe South. He very proudly ran track at both schools. He then transferred to Olathe West to be a part of the Public Safety Program and was a member of the cross country team. He was very involved with the youth group at Gardner Church of the Nazarene.
Andrew selflessly gave his time to participate in mission trips and volunteer through his school and church. He knew exactly what he liked and what he didn't like, and could not be persuaded. He was a quiet, solid spirit among us. He loved hard, but you may have never known it. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Andrew is survived by his loving parents, John (Regan) Caraway and Shera (Jeremy) Grimm; siblings, Sierra Grimm, Ariana Caraway, Hunter Grimm, Catelyn Caraway, Ellie Grimm, Conner Caraway, Remi Westmoreland, and Makenna Caraway; maternal grandmother, Dawn McClelland; paternal grandmother, Linda Fountain; his aunt and uncle, Crystal & James Brackett; his aunt Jamie Caraway; and cousins, Jayden and Shelby Kollman and Geneveive and Rosalyn Brackett.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Fred Caraway and Jay McClelland.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe chapel. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Gardner Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Gardner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Gardner Church of the Nazarene Youth Group.
