Alma Meyers

Alma (Goetz) Meyers, 76, of Olathe, Kansas, passed in peace with her family by her side on February 5, 2015. Visitation beginning with a rosary will be held on Sunday, February 8, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Penwell Gabel funeral home in Olathe. Funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 9, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe followed by interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.

Alma was born October 31, 1938, in Hays, Kansas, to Simon and Ida Goetz. She was a 1956 graduate of Victoria High School and then attended Fort Hays State where she earned her degree in Education. After teaching for over 30 years, she retired to be a full time grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband Bill of 53 years and three children, Stan (Darla) Meyers of Topeka, Stacey (Mike) Allen of Olathe, and John (Kristy) Meyers of Olathe and seven grandchildren: Amy, Grant, Matthew, Olivia, Ethan, Claire, and Abigail. She is also survived by her siblings: Berniece Bushman of Roseville, CA, Ron Goetz of Victoria, KS, Norma Huffman of Phoenix, AZ, Verda (Ivan) Werner of Victoria, KS, Sharon (Frank) Merrick of Oviedo, FL, Frank (Cam) Goetz of Denver, CO, and many nieces and nephews.

Alma was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, doing puzzles, and reading a good book. She was an avid sports fan, and her greatest joy was attending the many activities of her grandchildren.
