Allison Marie Ewert (Brackhahn), 54, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on February 26, 2023 after nearly three years of fighting breast cancer.
Allison was born on August 29, 1968 to Robert Lester Brackhahn and Carol Christine Brackhahn (Cady) in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1986, she went on to study advertising at Kansas State University, graduating in 1990. While at KSU, Allison met her husband Kurt Henry Ewert. They married on November 15, 1991 and had three children: Emily, Abby, and Matthew.
It is an understatement to say that Allison was an amazing mom and wife. She cherished nothing more than family time. She was the hub of the family and a fantastic role model. Her love, support, and direction shaped her children into remarkable adults. During more than 31 years of marriage, her love and friendship with Kurt only strengthened. She brought out the best in the family and was adored by all. Her passing will leave many years of amazing memories and a void that will be felt forever.
The outpouring of messages, prayers, thoughts, and support during her cancer treatments are a testament to the many lives she touched. Allison cherished so many relationships, some going back to childhood.
Allison is survived by her parents Robert Lester Brackhahn and Carol Christine Brackhahn (Cady), sister Amy Christine Ellzey (Brackhahn), brother Michael John Brackhahn, daughter Emily Jeanette Henke (Ewert) (married to Jonathan William Henke in 2021), daughter Abby Kathryn Ewert, son Matthew Henry Ewert, and husband Kurt Henry Ewert. She was excited for the birth of her first grandchild, Charlie, due on April 9, 2023.
A visitation will be held at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Black Bob Road in Olathe, Kansas on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 6-8 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W 143rd Street in Olathe, Kansas on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations that Allison felt strongly about:
A Mission in God's Amor (AMIGA), providing medical missions to Honduras, P.O. Box 220833, St. Louis, MO 63122
Kelly Lynn Lutz Memorial Foundation, providing college scholarships for kids who have lost a parent to cancer, P.O. Box 23395, Shawnee Mission, KS 66283
