Alice Jean Wetmore

May 7, 1931 — January 29, 2018

Alice Jean {AJ} (Shoff) Wetmore was born on May 7, 1931 and died on January 29, 2018. She was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, Ohio. She was the fourth child of seven children, born to Roy Henry Shoff and Vera Alice (Turner) Shoff. She graduated from Warren (Warren, Ohio) High School in 1948. She graduated from Eastern Nazarene (Quincy, Mass.) College in 1953. She married the love of her life, Arnold Gordon Wetmore Sr., on Friday August 28, 1953 at Warren First Church of the Nazarene, in Warren, Ohio.

She had many different jobs outside the home, Ohio State University Alumni Association, Public School teacher, Pensions & Benefits office, but the one she loved the most was being a homemaker. AJ's homes were in Kansas City, Monroe (WI), Quincy (MA), Columbus (OH), KC again, Nampa (ID) and Olathe. She was a Pastor's wife, a President's wife, Dad's personal travel assistant, a meticulous accountant and did them so well she made it look easy. No one ever went to the Wetmore's house, including workers in or around the house, and left hungry or thirsty. Her featherbed rolls are still famous from sea to shining sea. She was known for her hospitality as an amazing cook, and blessed so many through her talents. AJ could play a "mean piano' with a gentle spirit. Everyone loved to hear her sing, especially when she sang duets with her husband, Gordon. She loved people, and prayed daily for everyone she knew to come to know Jesus. AJ's poem at 12 ½ years old entitled, "Make Me Lord", expresses her lifelong dream which the Lord accomplished in her life. She loved her Lord and her family. She will be most remembered for her laugh, her prayer life and her contagious love.

She is survived by her children: Gordon Wetmore, Jr., (Amy), Tim Wetmore, (Tanya), Paul Wetmore, (Beth), Judy Gray, (John). Her grandchildren: Allie Scott (Ryan) Todd, Gordie, Kate Spencer ( Blake), Nathan Gray, and Gabe Gray, and her great-grandchildren: Hugh Scott and Theo Scott. She is survived by her siblings: Edward Shoff, Mildred Hawes, Iva Zornow and Clyde Shoff. She is preceded in death by: Her parents - Roy Henry Shoff and Vera Alice (Turner) Shoff, her husband- Arnold Gordon Wetmore, Sr., Sister - Lois (Shoff) Heath and brother Ernest Shoff
