Aleatha Arlene Fulk , 90, died suddenly at Cedar Lake Village in her apartment on June 11, 2014. She was born in Horton Kansas to James and Emma Woodruff on November 30, 1923. Arlene was the youngest of 9 children.
In the early 40s, Arlene worked at Montgomery Wards while her friends and relatives were helping in the war efforts of WWII. She married Hurshel Surratt Fulk while he was on leave on December 24th, 1944, at North Topeka Baptist Church in a double wedding.
Hurshel and Arlene started a retail floor covering business and served the Horton and Hiawatha communities for 43 years. Arlene was also very active in her church. She taught Sunday school and worked in a variety of positions, she loved the Lord and her church.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that cherished her family.
Arlene and Hurshel enjoyed traveling and over the course of their married life had the opportunity to visit many countries as well as most of the continental United States.
Those surviving are her children: Janet Irwin of Hiawatha, Ks, Larry (Penny) Fulk of Paola, Ks, Charles (Fawn) Fulk and John Fulk of Olathe, Ks, a daughter-in-law Kelly Fulk of Junction City, Ks. 15 grandchild and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hurshel (2012) and her son Richard (2008).
