Alan Ruder

Alan H. Ruder, 71, Olathe, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Billy Graham Evangelistic Assc. (Crusade Ministries), 1 Billy Graham Pkwy, Charlotte, N.C. 28201.

Alan was born August 30, 1936 in Granite City, Illinois living in Johnson County, Kansas most of his life. He graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1954. He attended Rockhurst and St. Benedicts Colleges. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from 1957-1961. He met Betty Swearingin in 1962 and married in April of 1963. He was president and co-founder of the American Discount Office Supply Company, Inc. in Olathe.

He was a former Boy Scouts of America Scout Master. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Olathe. Hobbies included fishing, cooking, and wood working.

He was preceded in death by his mother; Laura Ruder, sister; Mary Huggins, brother; Jim Ruder, and a daughter; Kimberly Rosa.

He leave his wife of 44 years Betty Ruder, sons; John (Shelly) Ruder, and Joe Ruder, father; Edward (Maxine) Ruder, brothers; John (Eleanor) Ruder, Charlie (Paula) Ruder, Carl (Pam) Ruder, and sisters; Carolyn (Bruce) Wyhs, and Mickki (Elmer) Massey, grandchildren; Bethany, Colton, Benjamin Ruder, Megan and Joshua Rosa, son-in-law; Marcelo Rosa.
