Agnes Svoboda, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the age of 85 in Olathe, Kansas. Born on July 21, 1939, in Madison, Indiana, Agnes was known for her sweet disposition and her unwavering ability to connect with others. Her life was a testament to dedication and love, traits that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As a devoted homemaker and military wife, Agnes embraced her roles with grace and passion. She was not only a caretaker but also a source of strength and support for her family, particularly during her husband's service. A loving mother, she is survived by her sons Charles and Joe, as well as her daughters Christine Wade and Anna Modrow, who will forever cherish the memories of their time with her.
Throughout her life, Agnes was actively involved in various community initiatives, including serving on the auxiliary for the American Legion. Her spirit of service extended beyond her family, and she sought to enhance the lives of those around her. Agnes had a distinct love for basketball, particularly for the University of Kansas Basketball team. She fondly recalled her youthful days spent playing pick-up games with her brothers, igniting a lifelong passion for the sport.
An avid reader, Agnes found solace and joy within the pages of countless novels, allowing her imagination to soar. Her endearing personality meant she never met a stranger she didn't like, and her warmth would bring people together. Among her many interests, she was particularly fond of the series, “Blue Bloods.”
Agnes’s visitation will be held on March 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 16000 W 143rd St, Olathe, KS 66062. Following the visitation, a Mass will be celebrated at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The inurnment will take place at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, starting at 1:15 PM, located at 13901 South Black Bob Road, Olathe, KS 66062.
