Adrienne Danielle (Qualls) Clevenger departed from this world peacefully on September 27th, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, after a several-months battle with AML. She was 36 years old.
She was born on June 14th, 1986 in Vandalia, IL, growing up in various towns in southern Illinois, graduating from Centralia High School in 2005.
Early in her college education, she met the love of her life, Nathan Lee Clevenger of Hettick, IL, and relocated with him to the Kansas City metro area, married in 2009, and settled in Olathe, KS where they've grown their family through both childbirth and adoption (through Holt International).
She earned her Bachelor's degree from UMKC and Masters of Library Science from Emporia State University. She enjoyed a fulfilling career in her dream job as a librarian and research specialist, most recently with Olathe Medical Center and the Linda Hall Library of science, engineering, and technology in Kansas City.
Adrienne had a unique, one-of-a-kind personality that cultivated close familial bonds w/ Korean adoption families in the Greater Kansas City area, families in the Kansas City Youth Hockey and Lacrosse communities, and individuals/families all over the country through the Eco Friendly Family (EFFers). She had a guilty pleasure for quilting, and served as a member of the Olathe Quilters Guild. She played several musical instruments, a passion and talent that is shared and inherited to her children. Spiritually, she was inspired by Buddhist philosophies of impermanence, selflessness, and rebirth.
Adrienne is survived by her husband Nathan, son Ryan Lee, daughter Josephine Yi-Seul, father Jay (Deb) Qualls of Centralia, IL, mother Kristy (Greg) Hertel of Salem, IL, parents-in-law Monte and Wanda Clevenger of Hettick, IL, brother-in-law Nick (Tiffany) Clevenger of Plano, TX, and several step-siblings, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The family is forever grateful to the University of Kansas Medical Center for the exceptional care she received through leukemia treatment and eventual comfort care, and to all of our family and friends that offered their love, prayers, and support to Adrienne and her family from beginning to end.
To accommodate friends/family spanning geographical locations, visitation/memorial service will be conducted in Olathe, KS, and an additional Celebration of Life will be conducted in Salem, IL. Adrienne will be laid to rest at Olathe Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Adrienne's services will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
