Kathryn Anne Copeland (King), age 76, of Olathe, KS, passed away October 7, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Kathryn (Kathy) was born May 27, 1946 in New Brighton, PA to Lewis and Ruth King. She graduated from Monaca High School, JCCC, and Ottawa University and served her family, friends and community.
On May 29, 1971 Kathy married Robert (Bob) Copeland. Together they were married for 49 years until Bob passed away on June 20, 2020. Kathy loved work and did so in Real Estate starting in 1984 first selling homes for Century 21, then Summerson Burrows which later became Prudential Kansas City and now Better Homes and Gardens Kansas City. In the early days they "farmed" neighborhoods handing out newsletters and seasonally pumpkins and easter egg coloring kits all while dressed in a pumpkin suit and later an easter bunny suit, she then managed and lead realtors, trained realtors, and at one time had been the president and CEO of Prudential Kansas City and was a broker owner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Kansas City. Along those lines Kathy was the President of the Johnson County Board of Realtors, Chair for the Kansas Real Estate Commission, Director for Kansas Association of Realtors and named realtor of the year in 2013 by the Kansas Association of Realtors. She was a Steelers fan, and loved to cruise, but most of all she loved spending time with her husband, kids, grandkids and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother Lewis King, and husband Bob Copeland.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Jen) Schram and husband Blake (Coop) of Lenexa, KS, and Beth Carter of Lenexa, KS, son, Robert Jr. (Bo) and wife Caley, of Colorado Springs, CO, 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and brother, John King and wife Lynn of Bridgeville, PA.
