Judy Kay Looney, 70, of Olathe passed away September 16, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Verna and Argie Sievert, of Wasola, Missouri, Ozark County.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Glen Looney; three children, Pam (Darrin) Hatcher (Spainhower), Matt (Heather) Looney, Nathan Looney; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Dalton, Preston Hatcher, Dawson, Jack Looney, Kaitlin, Gwen, and Tyler Looney, all of Olathe; two brothers and six sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was born on August 28, 1946 in Wasola, MO. in a rural setting. She attended Oak Grove General Baptist Church all her young life. She loved running the mail route with her father as a little girl. She graduated from Ava high school where she was crowned Miss Merry Christmas her senior year. Judy and Glen Looney were united in marriage in 1971 and enjoyed 45 years of a loving marriage. Along with their three children they also welcomed several foster children into their home.
Judy was a compassionate, giving and caring woman. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She was a great cook and homemaker and never met a stranger. She had a successful career as a draftsman.
Judy enjoyed many traveling adventures all over the country as well as Mexico, Peru, and Canada. She had a passion for sewing, taking on countless sewing projects from wedding dresses to corn sacks and upholstery. She loved sewing and cooking with her grandchildren. She had a green thumb and kept a garden and greenhouse full of flowers and plants. Most of all she treasured spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
